This is a very distinct painting of a lounging man entitled, “Portrait Allonge”, by Christian Bessiere. The primary colors are blue, white, grey and black. The man is lounging with his head rested on his hand. The technique Bessiere used resonates with an abstractly geometric design, using undefined shapes to build his subject. This striking piece would bring a contemporary feel to an interior.
Born in 1954, Christian Bessiere’s work was included in Foundation Cartier’s Exhibition Vraiment faux in 1988. His was was viewed along side his contemporaries Max Bill, and Tom Wesselmann.
