This is a striking rare bronze Le Lion Accent table by Jacques Garcia for Baker Furniture Co. Resin and black lacquer Le Lion’s are easier to come by than this cast bronze example. The round top is surrounded by a curved apron and supported by 3 oversized lion paw feet. The bronze patina has aged well; there are a few areas that show the golden bronze base metal like the toes and around the edge of the top but this is a lovely detail. This table is a signature piece designed by Garcia, currently out of production in any fabrication, but an example in cast bronze is the finest example.
“One of the most sought-after French interior decorators of our time, Jacques Garcia specializes in designing places of mythic status, like James Joyce’s favorite restaurant and Oscar Wilde’s Parisian residence. With a career that spans three decades, Garcia is inspired by Napoleonic extravagance and Zen minimalism alike. His Baker furniture collection reflects Garcia’s larger-than-life spirit with refined, classical shapes, a sense of warmth and livability, and luxurious comfort. These are pieces made to last a lifetime, and beyond.” Excerpt from Baker Furniture, About Jacques Garcia.
