Iron X Chair designed by William Haines
Another rare find, The X chair designed by William Haines. The iron frame has a patinated finish resembling verdigris and is in fine condition. The upholstery on this example retains the original upholstery and though it looks good it does not sit well. As you can imagine the interior workings have degraded. The Schumacher fabric seen on the chair is called Elsie DeWolfe and is still in production. This chair is a great example of Haines’ innovative designs for the outdoors (and in this case used indoors as well) and stands alone as some of the chicest furniture of the 20th century. This chair was originally made for the home of Mervin & Kitty LeRoy.
